On Wednesday March 27, 2024, First Sergeant Antwan Smith had the distinct honor to attend and present Deputy Nick Fisher with the Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce 2023 Deputy of the Year Award. The recognition was part of their Annual Awards Celebration and Dinner held at Los Hermanos Restaurant in Colonial Beach.
The Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office mission statement includes the following words which we strive to provide: Integrity, Respect, Service, and Fairness. On paper these are just words, however, the actions of our deputies create the culture and lifestyle that we live by. No deputy embodies these words more than Deputy Fisher. Deputy Fisher was hired on September 1st, 2021. Like all new deputies he attended the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy until March 2022.
Since being released from the academy and Field Training, Deputy Fisher has received six letters of commendation. And in 2023 he led the Sheriff’s Office in criminal arrests. While doing all this Deputy Fisher has also demonstrated professionalism under the most trying of circumstances, embodied patience when others long since would have walked away, demonstrated humility toward people who some might say deserved none; and Showed dedication to duty as the clock ticked long past the end of his scheduled workday.
We are extremely proud of Deputy Fisher and congratulate him on this achievement. He possesses those skills and intangibles which makes him an invaluable asset to our community.
