Qualifications:

To be considered for the position of Deputy Sheriff, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent (some college coursework preferred)
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a background investigation, including criminal history and driving record checks
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Previous law enforcement experience or military service is preferred but not required
